2018 State Budget: President Biya Gives Fresh Orientations

 The Head of State in a circular dated June 20, 2017, instructed Members of Government to submit the draft of the budget at the Presidency, latest October 6, 2017

In a bid to ensure the country meets its objectives of economic growth as well as inclusive and sustainable development, the Head of State, President Paul Biya has given well-founded directives to the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Vice Prime Minister, Ministers of State, Minister Delegates, Secretaries of State and Governors, for the drafting of the 2018 State budget. In a circular issued on Tuesday June 20, 2017, the Head of State mandated the concerned to carry out the task rigorously and submit the draft budget at the Presidency of the Republic on or before Friday October 6, 2017. President Biya specifically tasked the Prime Minister, Head of Government, the Minister of Finance as well as the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development to guarantee the strict implementation of his directives.
Going by the circular; copy of which was sent to our newsroom, Cameroon Tribune observed that next year’s budget will be executed within a very special context. The budget is supposed to finalize the Triennial Emergency Development Plan (PLANUT), 2016-2018, for the acceleration of economic growth as well as address the completion of preparatory works for the 2019 African Nation Cup which Cameroon will host. Besides operationalizing the Triennial Special Youth Programme (2016-2019), the President wants the Members of Government to draft the budget in such a way that it will promote inclusive economic growth, and create decent jobs in order to ameliorate the social status and living conditions of citizens.
