North West: BIR Recruits On Long-distance Walk

Over 1,100 of them left Bamenda on June 27th, 2017 for an endurance, training walk to Man O War Bay, Limbe

 

Some 1,131 newly recruited elements of the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) left Bamenda on June 27, 2017 on a 400 km training walk to their BIR headquarters at Man O War Bay, Limbe, South West Region. The Permanent Secretary in the North West Governor’s office, Lanyuy Harry; wished them journey mercies when he led the elements out of Bamenda on the early hours of June 27. Meanwhile; the Commander of the 3rd Battalion of BIR, Lt. Col. Foumane Ndongo Thierry who doubles as the Supervisor of training told CT that the 400 km walk is a routine exercise, a true test of endurance with elements showcasing their preparedness to train towards the defense of the nationhood of Cameroon, its population and property.
Each of the BIR elements carried 25-30kg of personal property, national colours and personal security weapons. The Walk is scheduled to take them through eight laps with medical Doctors, an ambulance and other logistics to ensure their nutritional and health coverage. Lt. Col.
