Grace Elone: Exemplary Property Development Entrepreneur

The United Kingdom based lady is now involved in charity works and development politics

“God has blessed me financially for the past 20 years in which I have worked as a property developer. I am now stable financially.” This is the declaration, the United Kingdom-based Grace Elone, Property Developer and Director/Chair of the Elone Foundation made to Cameroon Tribune at the close of the Forum for the Diaspora in Yaounde on June 30, 2017.
The international property developer with properties in the United Kingdom and Dubai left Cameroon in 1985 to go and study accountancy in Britain. She successfully had a Bachelors Degree and Masters but this was not going to be her final destination. She revealed that her partner asked her to go back to college and study building construction which she did. In college, she studied in class with students who had no degrees.
This was the beginning of her journey to wealth. Upon graduation from college some 25 years ago, she bought her first property with the savings she already had. The property, a two bedroom apartment, she said, was in very bad state and at the time cost 70,000 Pounds ( about FCFA 60 million). She renovated and extended the value of the apartment. After this, she sold the apartment at a good price and used the money to buy another house of two bedrooms and a garden. She transformed into a four-bedroom house and extended it. With this successful kick off, she bought and transformed more properties. “Something that you bought for it may be FCFA 100,000, you may sell at about FCFA 200,000 or FCFA 300,000.”
