Diaspora Forum: Cameroon’s Diaspora Want Secretariat of State

 The first edition of the Forum for the   Diaspora ended in Yaounde on  June 30, 2017 with far-reaching recommendations

 

After government, Cameroonians at  home and those in the  Diaspora explored ways, shared and  created partnerships to harnesses synergies  in order to boost an all inclusive national development,  the stage is  now set for concrete actions. Indeed, the partnerships were strengthened during the first  edition of the Forum for the Diaspora that took place in the Yaounde Conference Centre from   June 26-30, 2017 on the theme, «Cameroon and its Diaspora : Acting together  for the development of the nation. »
The Minister of State, Minister of Tourism and Leisure, Bello Bouba Maigari chaired the closing ceremony of the forum on behalf of the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang. He takes back to government the recommendations formulated by the over 400 Cameroonians  from the Diaspora  from 28 countries  who participated in the forum, as well as domestic participants  and government officials.
The forum participants recommended that possibilities should be examined to create a Secretariat of State in charge of the Diaspora, availability of options  of creating a fund to support investments of Cameroonians  in the Diaspora and establishment  of a data base of Cameroonians in the Diaspora-highlighting their socio-professional categories  and various competences. They also called for the exploration of possible ways of improving on the quality of fosterling and chancery services-with the view of facilitating the processing of entry clearances for Cameroonians in the Diaspora, establishment of public access information systems to strengthen government’s policy on communication, involvement of the Diaspora in the construction of a digital identity  for Cameroon to facilitate innovation and you...
