Drastic Review, Curtail Spending

The Head of State in a circular dated Tuesday June 20, 2017, ordered for a rigorous readjustment of prices of goods and services on the official list

 

Considering the need to control Government spending in order to ensure economic growth as well as inclusive and sustainable development, the Head of State, President Paul Biya instructed Members of Government to take certain actions in drafting the 2018 State budget. In a circular issued on Tuesday June 20, 2017, the Head of State noted that as concerns purchases of goods and services, a total readjustment should be carried out on budget heads, taking into account some rationalization measures. Amongst them are the drastic review of the official price list, the strict application of the new procedure for the consumption of water, and the operationalization of the price list for the rents for structures rented by the State and related organs.
President Biya also called on Members of Government to draft next year’s budget taking into account national and international economic dynamics and taking into consideration the strict respect for budgetary discipline in the management of resources.
