FSLC Examination: Above 40, 000 Write In North West

There is a significant increase of about 2,000 candidates compared to last year.
Candidates in the North West Region preparing for another step in the education ladder have begun writing the 2026 session of First School Leaving Certificate and the "Certificat d'Études Primaires". This year, the North West registered a total of 40,182 candidates for the First School Leaving Certificate exams and a total of 202 for the "Certificat d'Étude Premaires" across the region. The North West Regional Delegate of Basic Education, Gohla Kelvin Njodezka and his team went visiting various writing centres across the city of Bamenda on June 16, 2026. He revealed that the exams is unfolding in a calm and serene atmosphere. “Security is guaranteed as forces of law and order are present and even some parents accompanied their children.” the Delegate noted. In the centres visited across the three Subdivisions of the city, all the materials and examination procedures were respected. He revealed that a few absences were recorded and explained that some of the candidates have traveled out of the city, some were reported sick and one candidate was reported to have gone to the world beyond which he regretted so much. On his part, the Chief of Examinations in the Regional Delegation, Mbatu Clement revealed that a total of 40,182 candidates registered for the First School Leaving Certificate in the North West while 202 candidates registered for the " Certificate Étude Primerie". These candidates are writing in a total of 288 centres across the region. Interestingly, the examination involved all children who registered including juveniles from the Bamenda Prison, as well as children with special needs.
