Responsible Citizenship: Clarion Call Of National Assembly

Participating in the ongoing general population census and voter registration process and a general respect of Republican institutions are some of the issues raised by House Speaker.

A t the close of the June Ordinary session of Parliament at the National Assembly yesterday July 8, 2026, House Speaker, Theo­ dore Datouo called on citizens to be responsible and participate in national issues such as the ongoing general population census and voter regis­ tration. The census, he said, would provide reliable data that would help the government to better plan the development of the country, adapt policies to demographic and social realities and, ultimately, meet the needs of the populace. On the voter registration exercise, the legislator appealed to the youths, in particular, who have attained voting age and even those who are still to get re­ gistered to consider doing so as res­ ponsible citizens. According to him, any credible democracy is predicated on responsible and inclusive partici­ pation of citizens on electoral opera­ tions.
