Cameroon-World Bank Partnership: Priority Areas Outlined

Rehabilitating the Douala-Yaounde- Bangui corridor, developing energy, agriculture, irrigation infrastructure, and human capital were sectors highlighted yesterday at the Star Building.
M ain sectors of in vestment by the World Bank Group in Cameroon in the immediate term have been dis cussed at the Star Building. This was during an audience the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute granted the Country Director of the financial institution, Cheick Kanté yesterday July 16, 2026. In his statement to the press, the financial expert said they basically reviewed partnership between the two parties which today amounts to quite a subs tantial portfolio, nearly five bil lion dollars covering the coun try's priorities. He added that it was also polite of him to up date the Prime Minister at the beginning of the institution’s fiscal year which commenced on July 1. On the priority sec tors, the Country Director said, “It is the transport, energy and agriculture sectors, the deve lopment of irrigation infrastruc ture, and also human capital; education, health, social pro tection. So we went over eve rything and discussed the major initiatives financed by the bank. For example, the rehabilitation of the Douala-Yaounde-Bangui corridor, this time with a much more economic focus. These are among the key projects we just approved.” He further explained that their focus and role is to continue supporting...
