Bamenda-Babadjou Road : Dream Gradually Becoming Reality

Rehabilitation work on the Babadjou-Matazem lot is 98 per cent done and there is a steady progress on the Matazem-Welcome to Bamenda section.


Travelers to the North West Regional capital , Bamenda  from Bafoussam in the West Region have started heaving a sigh of relief and expressing joy as the hitherto bumpy, muddy and terrible Bamenda-Babadjou stretch of the road is steadily and progressively  being rehabilitated. Indeed, there is no impracticable part in the road now and travelers no longer spend many hours on the road.
The North West Regional Delegate of Public Works, Ngwaimbi Paul Ayeah told Cameroon Tribune that the first lot of the road rehabilitation project which is 17 kilometers from Babadjou  in the Bamboutos Division of the West Region to Matazem which is the border between the North West and West Regions is already 98 per cent done and is only pending reception. He said the second lot which is 18.05 kilometers from Matazem to Welcome to Bamenda is 60 per cent  done. He disclosed that the hydraulic structures are already complete and what is left is the roadway. From every indication,  should work progress in the same pace, by the end of this year 2024, this lot will be done. Once the Matazem-Welcome to Bamenda section of the road is completely rehabilitated, the nightmare people have been going through to travel to and from Bamenda passing through Babadjou will become history.
