72nd UN Ordinary General Assembly:Paul, Chantal Biya Arrive In New York

The Presidential couple was warmly received yesterday afternoon by a huge Cameroonian population at the Lotte New York Palace and he will address the world in the days ahead.
Cameroon’s first citizen, President Paul Biya and wife, Chantal Biya are already in New York and the Head of State will be mounting the rostrum at the ongoing 72nd United Nation’s Ordinary General Assembly in course of the week to present Cameroon’s stance on burning global concerns. The Presidential couple jetted into the city yesterday September 17, 2017 slightly before 4pm, New York time, to a hectic welcome from a huge crowd of Cameroonians and friends of Cameroon.
After receiving a warm protocol welcome from the Ambassador of Cameroon to the USA, Henri Etoundi Essomba, the Ambassador and Cameroon’s Representative to the United Nations Michel Tommo Monthe and a host of other high ranking officials at the J.F. Kennedy International Airport, Paul and Chantal Biya were driven to the Lotte New York Palace where a huge crowd of Cameroonians carrying the national colours and waving the effigies of the Presidential couple gave them a hectic welcome. In song and dance, the enthusiastic crowd gave Paul and Chantal Biya the reception worth the name, demonstrating their attachment to a one and indivisible Cameroon.
On the invitation of UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, President Paul Biya will take part in deliberations beginning this Monday and will in course of the week voice Cameroon’s views on issues of global concerns, notably around the theme of the proceedings, “Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for all on a Sustainable Planet.” Going by the schedule here, the general debate with Heads of State, Government and delegations will take place from September 19 to 25, 2017. In the face of the not-so-good global economic environment and security challenges that have not left any country or continent indifferent, President Paul Biya will no doubt enlighten the world on what Cameroon has been doing to somewhat remain resilient amidst the near-crippling crises.
