Moment For Responsible Merriment!

Another end-of-year has come and all and sundry are no doubt bracing up to swim in the festivities the period brings. Some will either be getting married, renewing their nuptial vows or celebrating one achievement or the other. Meanwhile, others will be using the period to celebrate the lives of loved ones who had journeyed to the world beyond.

The movements that usually characterise this period; either people leaving their bases in foreign countries or places of work to those of birth, usually tell of the desire by many to do things beyond the routine. The newness of some people in certain areas even gives an icing on the cake of the festivities.

Even those who would not fall in any of these categories or invited to partake in the feasts would at least celebrate the end of a year and start of another. Understandably so as many with whom they took off on January 1, 2017 would not have the opportunity to see its end. Festivities would therefore, except otherwise, be all-inclusive.

This is worthwhile after all! It is unarguably a rare moment to celebrate life and achievements, even if not all worked out as planned, and also to calmly plan for the days, weeks, months and years ahead all things being equal.

The times may not be wholly propitious for everyone to feast as wished but one thing is clear, all and sundry are stretching limits to make maximum use of the joyous moment. Wisdom teaches that as the fingers of the hand are not the same, so too are men! We are thus not saying here that the celebrations should be on the same platform.

Mathematically, they cannot even be. But making good use of the moment to attain optimum satisfaction is necessary!

This is obvious as any celebration almost always takes away the stress of life and refreshes the mind for better days ahead. Eateries, shopping and leisure avenues are therefore giving themselves facelifts to live up to or beyond the expectations of those who will come calling.
