Lake Chad Basin: Discussions Slated in Berlin

An international humanitarian conference on the situation on the Lake Chad Basin countries will take place in the German capital, Berlin next week.

The United Nations Organisation, donor organisations and the four countries of the Lake Chad Basin will meet in the German capital, Berlin next week not only to examine the humanitarian situation in the region but more importantly to see how recovery and stabilisation could be facilitated in the countries of the region.

The Lake Chad Basin countries that are Cameroon, Chad, Nigeria and Niger have been hit for several years by the war against the terrorist sect Boko Haram with telling humanitarian and economic consequences.

The UN Resident Coordinator in Cameroon, Allegra Maria Del Pilar Baiocchi on August 28, 2018 met the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of External Relations in charge of Relations with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu to discuss the upcoming Berlin humanitarian conference.
