2011-2018: president Biya’s Multisector Achievements Recorded

A succinct publication chronicles Paul Biya’s major accomplishments as Head of State during his current mandate

Anew publication highlighting President Paul Biya’s major accomplishments during his mandate spanning 2011 to 2018 shows that the Head of State is determined to build Cameroon into a modern and exemplary nation. The record indicates that under President Biya, Cameroon has made giant leaps forward. Remarkable progress has been seen in all fabrics of national life, notably; politics, diplomacy, economy, infrastructure development, social sphere, unity, sports and culture.

Last year, during his traditional address to the nation on December 31, President Biya took the personal engagement to see into the implementation of the establishment of the institutions provided for in the Constitution.

And it came to pass that the Constitutional Council was put in place and the Ministry of Decentralisation and Local Development was created. Much earlier, the Senate had been made functional. These State institutions have gone a long way to consolidating the rule of law and opening a new page in Cameroon’s democratic process.

Biya and his government have since the return of multiparty politics made it a point of honour that all elections are held regularly and in accordance with the Constitution, and that they are free, fair and transparent. The same policies have been observed during Biya’s 2011-2018 mandate.

Other aspects under which resounding success have been achieved include the respect and promotion of human rights with the putting in place of the National Action Plan for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (2015-2019).

Biya has also not relented in wagging and unending war against corruption. “I am fully determined to eliminate this scourge and to step up the fight against corruption, without complacency, discrimination and irrespective of the social status or political leaning of those found guilty. Nobody will consider himself or herself to be above the law,” the President echoed in 2011 and the high and mighty have gone in for their acts of corruption.
