Total AFCON Cameroon 2019: CAF Inspection Mission Arrives Today

The experts will begin effective work tomorrow in Yaounde before leaving for Garoua on Sunday, October 28, 2019.

A team of experts from the security committee of the African Football Confederation (CAF) is expected in the country today October 26, 2018. The visit will be the fourth by the African football ruling body ahead of next year’s hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Apart from visiting sports infrastructure, the fourth visit will focus mostly on the security matters in the sites in line with preparations for the Total AFCON Cameroon 2019. The CAF working visit will take place from tomorrow, October 27, 2018 and will end on November 1, 2018.

The experts will begin effective work tomorrow in Yaounde before leaving for Garoua on October 28, 2019. During their stay in the country, the team will visit the six sites to host the competition before their final departure on November 1, 2018. Prior to the CAF visit to Cameroon, the Local Organising Committee for the Total AFCON Cameroon 2019 (COCAN) had begun the drafting of a global strategy in the domain of security as well as a repertoire of the effective deployment of manpower and equipment on the competition venues and training grounds, lodging facilities and fan zones, among others. Cameroon is therefore prepared to assure CAF of its capability to handle all aspects of security both in and out of the competition venues.
