Buea: 381 Fresh Prison Staff Ready For Duties

ENAP Buea graduated them in the presence of Secretary of State for Penitentiary Administration.

The Buea-based National School of Penitentiary Administration (ENAP) has turned out 381 fresh staff for Cameroon’s prisons. Among them are 10 Administrators of Prisons (9th batch), 25 Superintendents of Prisons (10th batch), and 346 Prison Warders and Wardresses (12th batch).

The Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice in charge of Penitentiary Administration, Doh Jerome Penbaga, chaired the graduation and epaulette award ceremony on 9th November, 2018, at the Buea ceremonial ground near Clerks Quarters.

Mr. Penbaga addressed the new Penitentiary Officers assuring them of Governmental hierarchy support in their duties and stressed on discipline, The Secretary of State reminded the public of the necessary reforms already contemplated to fortify the Prisons staff and give them impetus for a better handling of incarcerated persons.

Presenting the Penitentiary School and their graduates, the ENAP Director, Ngangjoh Mama Lamya, explained that the graduating Administrators and Superintendents began their course on 15th October, 2016, while the Warders started off on 25th November, 2017.
