Senate: Lawmakers Receive Two Bills

The members of the Upper House of Parliament were November 14 presented with a bill on food safety and another related to the ordinance on the 2018 Financial Year.

The Vice President of the Senate, Senator Nfor Tabe Tando November 14, chaired a plenary sitting during which two bills were presented. The bills were forwarded to the Senate by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, after they had been adopted by the Lower House of Parliament.

One of them is a framework bill on food safety which seeks to establish the principles and bases for regulating food products, feed for animals intended to be consumed by people, as well as food supplements and additives. The presiding Vice President of the Senate said it will be defended by the Minister of Public Health.

The other is to ratify Ordinance Num ber 2018/3 of October 2, 2018 to amend and supplement certain provisions of Law Number 2017/21 of December 20, 2017: Finance Law of the Republic of Cameroon for the 2018 Financial Year. It is expected to facilitate the implementation of the 420 megawatt Nachtigal Hydro Electricity Power dam project.
