Party officials are reflecting on campaign strategies to cover more political grounds in the twin legislative and municipal elections of February 9, 2020.
After the rulings on pre-electoral petitions by the Constitutional Council for the legislative election and Administrative Courts for the council election, the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) now knows exactly the constituencies and councils in which its lists will compete and their opponents.
The CPDM General Secretariat in Yaounde on December 26, 2019 did not have the usual hustling and bustling. Some staff found there said it was a day after the Christmas feast and many people had obtained permission. They however, disclosed that some officials came in to carry out specific tasks.
Information gathered from close sources indicate that activities will turn full cycle starting from the coming Monday. What is certain is that CPDM has structures in charge of every aspect of the elections and the structures are bracing up for the best performance. CPDM is the lone political party that will run for the twin elections in all regions of Cameroon. This follows the publication of the lists of candidates retained for the elections by Elections Cameroon and the verdicts on the rulings on petitions by the Constitutional Council and the Administrative Courts.
