Nigeria : Super Eagles Flying The Continent

The Super Eagles have won three trophies. However, for the past eight years they have not been able to increase their booty.

From all indications, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be coming to the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon for business. The Super Eagles of Nigeria are a football powerhouse in Africa. After the Black Stars of Ghana (4 titles) the Super Eagles follow in West Africa with three trophies. However winning the fourth title remains a major cause for worry for the team. For the past eight years, they have not been able to increase their booty. Many football lovers still remember the Super Eagles in their heydays. Top stars like Peter Rufai, Vincent Enyeama, Rashidi Yekini, and most recently Ikechukwu Uche, Ahmed Musa, John Obi Michael, among others are still remembered. 
Nigeria has 19 appearances in the AFCON. Their first appearance was in 1963. The Super Eagles won the trophy in 1980, 1994 and 2013. Their most recent victory was in 2013 in South Africa. The final was contested between Nigeria and Burkina Faso in Johannesburg on February 10, 2013. John Mikel Obi won the trophy for the Man of the Match. Sunday Mba scored a magnificent winner as Nigeria won the Africa Cup of Nations for the third time. In 1994 Nigeria won their second trophy after beating Zambia 2-1 in the final at the El Menzah Stadium in Tunis. Emmanuel Amunike scored the two goals for Nigeria.
