Satisfactory Performance

The dust is yet to settle over Cameroon’s victory at the just-ended African Women’s Volleyball Championship in Kigali, Rwanda. The national women’s volleyball team made history for themselves after they won the African Women’s Volleyball trophy for the third consecutive time. They beat Kenya 3-1 sets during the final on Sunday September 19, 2021 at the Kigali Arena to lift the trophy. The victory came to quench the thirst of Cameroonian fans who had been waiting anxiously to celebrate another trophy for the country. 
The performance of the Lionesses in African Women’s Volleyball Championship is worthy of praise. The Lionesses put up an excellent performance throughout the competition wining all their games. The only defeat suffered by the team was when they lost the second set against Kenya during the final. From last Sunday’s victory, the Lionesses have set a record thanks to third consecutive win against the same arch rival Kenya (2017, 2019, 2021). The ladies of Coach Jean René Akono have not only maintained their dominance over rivals, Kenya but have equally proven that no team is invincible as far as continental volleyball is concerned. No Cameroonian team has won the African Volleyball Championship three times like the Lionesses.  Apart from the trophy, the Cameroonians bagged home other distinctions. Leticia Moma was crowned the best setter and team captain, Christelle Nana best player of the tournament.
