Cameroon’s representative at the CAF Confederations Cup, Coton Sport of Garoua, is in Botswana where they will play against Orapa FC of Botswana in the second round preliminaries of the CAF Confederations Cup tomorrow October 16, 2021. Coton Sport arrived in Botswana yesterday Thursday October 14, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. to get used to the environment before tomorrow’s encounter. Shortly after their arrival, the boys of Coach Aboubakar Souleymanou had their first training session at 5:00 p.m. Today, the team will have a pre-match press conference at 10:00 a.m. before recognition session at National Stadium of Botswana at 1:00 p.m. A technical meeting before the match will take place at 7:00 p.m. The match will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the National Stadium in Gaborone.
Coton Sport who were exempted from the first preliminary rounds of the competition will challenge the host who conquered Mangasport of Gabon in the previous round. Cotonsort reached the semi-final of the CAF Confederation Cup last term for the third time in history. Coton Sport is going into the competition at a time when most of its key players who reached the semi-final of the CAF Confederations Cup have left the team. Most of the players are said to have left as free agents thus having a financial impact on the management of the club. This notwithstanding, Coton Sport has made up with old players like Daouda Kamilou, Souaibou Marou, Francis Tombi Alemi and some young players from the training centre who have been trained to play professional football this season.
Added to that there is Limane Moussa and Oumarou Sali, two on loan from Avion Academy and some newly recruited players notably David Kokolome, former player of Panthère of Nde, Louis Tazoh and Leonel Ateba Mbida from As Fortuna of Yaounde and Junior Malone former player of Union Douala. Coton Sport has also strengthened the team with foreign players from Niger, Congo, Togo, Chad and Nigeria. The newly recruited players both local and foreign-based joined the 16 players of the 2020. The dream of Coton sport is do better than last year.
