Yaounde Judo African Open : Cameroon Wins 14 Medals

The national men’s and women’s teams emerged overall winners with seven gold medals in the competition that ended on Sunday, November 17, 2021.

The national anthem of Cameroon was sung seven times during the closing ceremony of the fifth edition of the Yaounde Judo African Open on Sunday November 7, 2021 at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex. Organised by the Cameroon Judo Federation (FCAJUDO) in collaboration with the International Judo Federation (IJF), the competition brought together judokas from 13 countries from Africa, one from Europe (Ireland). The competition which lasted for two days was equally an opportunity to detect new talents. The athletes competed in both the men’s and women’s categories. It was a stiff competition that saw a rich display of talents by the athletes. At the end of the competition, Cameroon finished first on the classification table winning 14 medals with seven of them in gold. They are followed by Cote d’Ivoire and Ireland. 
The National Technical Director for Judo, Roland Zoa expressed satisfaction with the performance of the athletes. He said the brilliant results of the athletes reflects the work that is being done on ground....
