FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers: Cameroon To Face Nigeria

The girls of Coach Ndoumou Mike are preparing already for the huge task ahead.

The national U20 women’s football team will play against neighbours, Nigeria, in the fourth round qualifiers for the World Cup in Costa Rica in 2022. Cameroon was the first country to qualify for the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup after Gabon withdrew from the ongoing qualifying tournament. The junior Lionesses were supposed to face Gabon in a double confrontation in December. The first leg was slated for Saturday December 4, 2021 while the return leg was billed a week later in Libreville. Coach Josephine Mike Ndoumou and the team are still preparing for the task ahead.

Nigeria qualified for the fourth round after Congo withdrew from the second leg qualifier that was supposed to take place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on December 17, 2021 in Lagos. Reports from Congo say the team did not show up due to travel challenges. Nigeria beat Congo 4-0 in the away leg at the Stade Alphonse Massamba Debat in Brazzaville.
