Cape Verde Overpowers Ethiopia

The Blue Shacks of Cape Verde have begun their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations campaign on a good footing. They beat Ethiopia 1-0 during their maiden game of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations played yesterday January 9, 2022 at the Olembe stadium. The lone goal of the encounter was scored by Cape Verde’s forward, Julio Carolina Tavares, one minute into additional time of the first half. This was after Cape Verde had dominated all the first segment creating several scoring opportunities and pushing their opponents to commit faults. 
The Blue Shacks finally succeeded to fully control the game after Ethiopia’s defender, Yared Bayeh Belay was sent out of the pitch with a red card at the 12th minute. With the numerical strength, the Blue Shacks struggled to get the goals counting but goalkeeper Teklemariam Shanko of Ethiopia was vigilant enough to save his side several times.
