Nigeria-Egypt : Super Eagles Grab Three Valuable Points

They beat Egypt 1-0 in the Group D opener at the Roumde Adjia stadium yesterday.

The 9th confrontation between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Pharaohs of Egypt has met all expectations of a titan soccer fight. Playing at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in front of over 25,000 spectators, the boys of Augustine Eguavoen, after a period of observation went into business with a series of counter attacks. Front runner Awoniyi Micheal and Simon Daddy raided the Egyptian territory with counter attacks but failed to concretise them. 
With the storming visibly over for Egypt, the game became balance with both teams trying to organise play from their territory. Egypt’s midfield Elneny Mohamed and  Omar Marmoush did everything to contain the Eagles with a series of short passes before moving up front but were held by a well compact Nigerian defence commanded by captain Paul Ekong. As the minutes ensued, captain Mohamed Salah who is in good scoring form tried to create goal chances by penetrating from the flank.
