Malawi Strengthens Squad

The Flames have recalled five players who were on the reserve list as a boost to the squad.

As day two matches in group B approach, the Flames of Malawi have strengthened their team ahead of the game against the Warriors of Zimbabwe on Friday January 14, 2022. Prior to their first group game against Guinea, Malawi was short of nine players and their coach Mario Marinica who had tested positive for COVID-19. The players that missed the opening fixture were Orlando Pirates striker, Gabadinho Mhango, Richard Mbulu, defenders Mark Fodya, Peter Cholopi, Lawrence Chaziya, Stanley Sanudi, midfielders Chikoti Chirwa, Charles Pedro and Robin Ngalande. Out of that number, two of them; Fodya and Petro have recovered from the COVID-19 and have since joined the team. The remaining seven and the coach are still in isolation and will likely miss tomorrow’s game. The players are Brighton Munthali, Paul Ndlovu, Dan Chimbalanga, Gerard Phiri and Stain Dave
