Nigeria-Guinea Bissau : Super Eagles Want Clean Sheet

In order not to perturb the winning spree, Coach Eguavoen is expected to line-up a vibrant team today in Garoua.

Curtains will drop today at the Roumde Adjia stadium when the Super Eagles of Nigeria take on the Djurtus of Guinea Bissau in the last group D encounter in Garoua. It will be the fourth match between the two teams at the final phase of the competition. During their previous encounters, both teams won one each and drew the other.
Though the Eagles have already qualified for the round of 16 after scoring two clean victories against Egypt and Sudan, coach Augustine Eguavoen might not want to break the winning dynamic in the team and so is expected to line-up a full force team capable of grabbing a clean sheet when they meet today. If the Super Eagles succeed in beating the Djurtus of Guinea Bissau to night, it will be the first time after sixteen years that they are replicating such a performance at the final phase of AFCON competition. The last, was in 2006 when they defeated Senegal, Zimbabwe and Ghana. With no injury or Covid-19 case reported in their luxurious hide-out in the sunny town of Garoua, the Super Eagles have received a major booster with the return of defender Chidozie Awaziem who has not featured in any match because of ankle injury.
