Nigeria-Tunisia : Carthage In Flying Colours

They beat one of the major favourites, the Super Eagles of Nigeria by 1-0 in Garoua yesterday.

The Carthage Eagles of Tunisia have sent many book makers to their drawing boards after edging the Super Eagles of Nigeria 1-0 at the ongoing AFCON competition. Playing at the Roumde Adjia stadium in Garoua yesterday, both teams began the round of 16 game with a lot of caution especially at the midfield where there was a tough tussle for the ball with Nigeria having an upper hand on most of the dwells. With the Nigerian coach Augustine Eguaveon bringing back the same team that defeated Egypt during their first outing, the Tunisians assistant coach Jalel Kadri whose team has been highly handicapped by the absence of eleven players plus the first coach due to Covid-19 knew the Super Eagles attacking prowess came from the flanks and so did everything to stop Simon Moses on the left and Samuel Chukwueze on the right from slotting the few balls they got. As the match drew old, the Super Eagles looked dejected while the Tunisians became more and more confident in their style of play until the Senegalese centre referee Maguete Ndiaye sent both teams into the dressing room for the first half of the game.
