Guinea-Gambia : Gambia Sails Through To Quarterfinals

One goal was enough to propel Gambia to the quarterfinals stage of the ongoing TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations. That is exactly what the Scorpions of Gambia got at the end of the eighth final match that took place at the Bafoussam Omnisports Stadium yesterday January 24, 2022. 
Gambia outplayed the Syli National of guinea 1-0 in a tense encounter that kept fans on their feet screaming at the top of their voices and cheering the teams. Each side needed to win in order to secure a spot in the next round of the competition. Over 8,000 spectators from the West Region were at the stadium to watch the West African derby.  Guinea began the game well dominating the encounter with a good play style but they lost their scoring chances. The Gambians on their part put up a good fight and a good collective play style but lacked good finishing. At half time the score line was 0-0.
