Senegal picked a ticket for the quarterfinals after beating Cape Verde yesterday, what worked in favour of the Teranga Lions?
Senegal won because of their experience. The fact that they had a numerical advantage equally played in their favour. This made it difficult for the Blue Sharks. Most of the Cape Verdeans are not well versed with the Africa Cup of Nations, so the experience and determination of the Senegalese side made the difference. They were equally very tactful. The second goal was a defensive error which the Senegalese made use of. The right pass was done at the right time to get the goal. Senegal has done a very good job and they merit their victory.
Two high profile teams, Egypt and Côte d’Ivoire meet today for a spot in the quarterfinals, what is your reading of this game and what do you think could make a difference?
Egypt and Côte d’Ivoire are all great nations in football. Egypt has won the Africa Cup of Nations seven times and Cote d’Ivoire has done so twice. The difference will be at the mental level. Physically and tactically, it will be very strong game. The team that will negotiate very well will be victorious. Technically both sides are good but their mental strength should be at the forefront.
