Indomitable Lions: Admirable Journey

Even though Cameroon did not win the trophy, the team put up a good performance, winning the third place after beating Burkina Faso 4-3 on penalties.

The 33rd edition of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations has come and gone. Even though Cameroon did not win the trophy, the path of the Indomitable Lions was good. From the start of the competition the Lions showed to Africa and the world their worth. Playing in group A, the five times African champions began the competition on a good footing.
During the group stage, Cameroon beat Burkina Faso 2-1 in the opening game at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde. Indomitable Lions captain, Vincent Aboubakar, scored the two goals for Cameroon after they were a goal down. Vincent Aboubakar bagged home the Man of the Match trophy.
The Indomitable Lions were the first team to qualify four the knockout stage of the competition following their 4-1 thrashing of Ethiopia in their second group game. Vincent Aboubakar and Karl Toko Ekambi each scored a brace. Toko Ekambi was elected Man of the Match. The Indomitable Lions drew 1-1 with Cape Verde in their last group game and went further to beat the Comoros Islands 2-1 in the eighth finals.
