Best Player: Sadio Mane Grabs Award

The Liverpool striker contributed enormously in his country’s lifting of the AFCON trophy.

Senegal’s commanding soccer officer, Sadio Mane, has been crowned the best player at the 33rd edition of the just-ended Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon after leading the Teranga Lions to their-first ever AFCON glory. Mane showed incredible courage by stepping up and scoring the winning penalty after his early spot kick was saved by Egypt’s goalkeeper and man of the match Mohammed Gabaski in the course of the game.
