Taxi Transportation Sector : Online Booking Gaining Grounds

It is fast becoming a new way of life in the economic capital of Douala as more and more   online applications are now available to enable people book taxis that can pick them up from one destination to the other. The applications are varied such as Yango, Gozem, Bee and a lot more. Most inhabitants in Douala attest that they now prefer to board a taxi through such means as their security is sure, and comfort is guaranteed.
Mr Onana Stephan told CT that he has been using one of the application for about three months now and he is satisfied with the service. The group director Gozem, Mr. Jean-Martial Moulaud, explained that a client can download the free Gozem app, available on Android and iOS. The customer can then open the app, enter their location, select their destination and launch the order. Then the nearest driver will pick them up. At the end of the trip, the app calculates the price according to the distance travelled, thanks to GPS technology, eliminating the need to negotiate.
Like other service providers he said payment can be done by cash, of via Mtn MoMo, Orange Money or credit card. While adding that each trip is booked by a user via the super app and can only be paid for by the user once he/she has arrived at the destination.
