Confidentiality of Documents : Violation To Be Sued

“Just as today you are taking the oath of service, promising to work faithfully, if care is not taken some of you may become our clients in future if you fail to observe the rules of the profession, such as publishing or disseminating secret information without prior authorisation,” were the words of the Presiding Judge, Matthew Mbella Mendo Kem, during an oath-taking ceremony at the High Court in Bonanjo, Douala, on June 24, 2022.
She sounded the warning to 33 archivists from various public institutions and services in Douala. The event follows ongoing celebration of the International Week of Archives, which is being celebrated in Cameroon since June 4, 2022 to end on June 30, 2022.
Regional Delegate of Arts and Culture, Dr. Jean Eugene Edimo, highlighted that in the conservation of official documents there is need to ensure and maintain their confidentiality and secrecy. He re-echoed to your favorite newspaper that those who will release them, say on social media or any public means, will be sued and those who will conserve them will be identified.
