Cameroon-Gabon: Fostering Growing Fraternal Relations

Cameroonian and Gabonese authorities have been using every opportunity to consolidate and foster their growing fraternal and neighbourly relations. The audience the Head of State, President Paul Biya granted Gabon’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Michael Moussa Adamo at the Unity Palace on September 29, 2022 was yet another occasion to deepen the relations built around issues of common concern and interest between the two countries. Cross-border security and strengthening the boundary between Cameroon and Gabon have seen authorities of the two countries coming closer and closer together. In May 2022 the second session of the Ad hoc Commission between the two countries that was coupled with the first session of the Joint Permanent Cross-border Security Commission took place in the Cameroonian capital, Yaounde. Officials of the two countries agreed to trace their boundary in order to stop the frequent clashes between communities living along the common border. The militaries of Cameroon and Gabon have agreed to carry out joint border controls to stop arms trafficking.
