2023 U-20 AFCON : Cameroon Misses Out

The baby Lions failed to qualify for the competition after they were beaten by Central African Republic 1-0 yesterday in their last game of the UNIFFAC tournament.

The baby Lions of Cameroon have failed to qualify for the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations billed for Egypt from 18 February -12 March, 2023. They missed out on the competition after the 0-1 defeat against Central African Republic on December 14, 2022. The game was Cameroon’s last in the four-nation UNIFFAC Tournament after two draws (first against Congo and the second against Democratic Republic of Congo). The two points grabbed by the Lions was not only unable to take them to Egypt but prevented them to defend their title as Champions of the UNIFFAC zone. 
The first half of the game against the Central African’s did not carry the much-awaited enthusiasm looking at the stakes: do or die for Cameroon. The Cameroonian team had a few high moments. The only real opportunity came at about the 40th minute but it was squandered. Before break, the baby Lions pressed on, had a few more opportunities but with no reward as they went into the dressing rooms on a 0-0 tie.
