Chan 2022 : Leadership Tussle Begins

The seventh edition of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN 2022) enters the second playing day today January 17, 2023. After the first playing day that kicked off during the weekend, the struggle for leadership has begun in the different groups. The different teams are seeking to produce the best results in order to secure comfortable positions in their groups. 
During the first playing day on Friday January 13, 2023, Algeria beat Libya 1-0 thanks to a 57th minute goal by Aymen Mahious. The result puts the Desert Foxes of Algeria on top of the group with three points and projects the team closer to the quarterfinals stage of the competition given that they are alone at the top seat. In the other day one match, Ethiopia played a 0-0 tie with Mozambique on January 14, 2023. In group B based in Annaba, the Democratic Republic of Congo drew 0-0 with Uganda and Senegal beat Côte d’Ivoire 1-0. Moussa Ndiaye scored for Senegal at the 77th minute. In group C, Madagascar beat Ghana 2-1 in Constantine. Following the withdrawal of the defending champions Morocco, Sudan got the three points of the day.
