Humanitarian Assistance : Int’l Red Cross Outlines 2023 Prospects

Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute yesterday February 1, 2023 received the Head of Committee, Stephen Bonamy during which priority areas were discussed.

The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute, on February 1, 2023 received the Head of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC), Stephen Bonamy, during which the later presented priority areas of his institution. Providing assistance as well as protection of vulnerable populations in the Far North, North West and South West Regions of Cameroon, summarise the plan of action for the humanitarian organisation for 2023.
Talking to reporters after the audience, Stephen Bonamy said, “We had discussions with the Prime Minister on how the ICRC envisages it priorities in the Far North Region through its sub delegation offices in Kousseri and Maroua towards the population still under the influence of pressure of the existing conflict as well as in the North West and South West Regions where armed conflict is still persisting. We had a very constructive conversation on these topics and shared observation on the situation of the population and their needs in terms of assistance and protection,” the Head of ICRC stated. 
Detailing the form of assistance, Stephen Bonamy stated that people displaced as a result of violence need basic services, something ICRC strives in providing. “We do work with host communities and displaced persons to help enhance their capacity to sustain their lives on daily basis.
