MTN Elite One : Fauve, YAFOOT End In Stalemate

Both sides resumed the second phase of the championship yesterday at the Ngoa-Ekelle Stadium with ambitions, but could only take home a 1-1 draw.

Day 12 fixtures marking the resumption of the second phase of the MTN Elite One Championship were played in stadiums across the country yesterday February 12, 2023. One of the fixtures was that which saw Fauve Azur share spoils with FC Yaounde II (YAFOOT) at the Ngoa-Ekelle Stadium. The teams pooled in Group B could only go back home with one point each after a 1-1 draw. Junior Kaaba scored for Fauve Azur at the 28' while Steve Belobo netted a penalty for YAFOOT some 17 minutes into the second half.
Both sides resumed with much ambitions knowing that the battle for positioning will be tough. Before the game, YAFOOT (5th on the classification table) with 14 points were one place ahead of Fauve Azur with 13 points. After the draw yesterday, they have both climbed to 15 and 14 points respectively. 
During yesterday’s encounter, the two teams had their high moments, producing quality play with constructive passes. At about 18 minutes into the first half, Fauve Azur were blessed with a free kick very close to the penalty box. But the well taken shot was pushed outside by goalkeeper Paul Doublin of YAFOOT. Both sides continued to press on and it was at the 28th minute that Junior Kaaba was on target for Fauve Azur. Play continued but the score remained 1-0 at the end of the first half. ...
