MTN Elite Two : Unisport Bafang On Hot Seat

Due to the interruption of their Day-14 match against Victoria United on Sunday February 12, 2023 following acts of violence by their fans, the club is exposed to severe sanctions.

Of the four day-14 matches of the MTN Elite Two Championship programmed over the weekend, only three were effectively played from start to finish. That which did not come to an end was the Unisport versus Victoria United game at the Bafang Municipal Stadium. The match which progressed right up to injury time was interrupted as some angry supporters stormed the pitch to attack match officials. The incident is reported to have occurred after Victoria United was awarded a 92nd minute penalty. At the time Victoria United was being led 1-0. The match was halted and security officials and stadium workers struggled to save the lives of match officials from the wrath of the disgruntled fans. 
Due to the incident, the Secretary General of the Transitional Council for Professional Football in Cameroon (CTFP), Faustin Blaise Mbida, has ordered the suspension of the Bafang Municipal Stadium from all competitions while waiting for the decision of the Homologation and Ethics Commission of FECAFOOT that has been contacted for the case.  In the other matches, OFTA of Kribi played a 2-2 draw with Leopard of Douala and AS Lausanne beat Stade Bertoua 1-0.
