Promoting Children’s Rights : Stakeholders Evaluate Advancement

For four days Unicef and stakeholders in the implementation chain of the 2022-2026 UN SDGs will evaluate what has been done so far.

Stakeholders in the national implementation plan of the United Nations Sustainable Goals (SDGs) are currently meeting in Douala to examine the work done so far and what is left to be done. From the 21-24 of February, stakeholders and Unicef officials will be examining the aspect of the plan that concerns children.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework is the main instrument through which the Government of Cameroon and the United Nations System will cooperate during the 2022–2026 period to implement the national priorities and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In effect, the meeting in Douala will permit both Government and Unicef to examine the road covered so far in terms of children’s rights, education, nutrition, and a lot more.
For the Director General of the General Department of Cooperation and Regional Integration in MINEPAT Dr. Assamba Ongodo Charles, Cameroon, and Unicef are working together for children to have better and quality education, ensure the security of children and to ensure that children have good health care.  He reiterated that the cooperation is in line with the SDGs, the National Development strategy plan and the 2022-2026 Unicef document as such they have to be methodic and optimize their action. He added that for four days they have to plan and strategies to ensure that all the above policies are respected. He however emphasized that a lot has already be done and more is still to be done.
 Meanwhile, the Deputy Representative of Unicef in Cameroon Arsene Azandossessi said after two years of the implementation of the programme it was important to evaluate the action taken by the Cameroon Government as far as children’s right is concerned.
