Cycling : Kamzong Abossolo Wins Season’s Opener

The first national cycling race for 2023 took place in Yaounde, on Sunday March 5, 2023.

The May 20 Boulevard in Yaounde was the departure and arrival points of a national cycling race that took place in the capital city on Sunday March 5, 2023. Orgnaised by the Cameroon Cycling Federation (FECACYCLISME), the competition brought together cyclists from across the country. The competition marked the kick off of the 2023 cycling season in Cameroon. The race was placed under the patronage of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education. 
The competition unfolded in the junior, senior men’s and women’s categories. A total 57 cyclists took part in the competition. Out of that number were nine women, 12 junior men and 36 senior (men). It was a 100km closed circuit; that is seven kilometres in 14 laps.  For the women’s competition, the task was five rounds, the junior nine and the senior 14 rounds. It was a tough race as the cyclists put up remarkable performance after a long break. In the women’s competition, 14-year-old Kegne Feudjio Presline (Ouest VAC), champion of Cameroon, was the first finishing the race in 1h08’54”. She was 5’49” ahead of Ngono Oyoa Laurence (Centre ACCO) and Thérèse Obioloma Buana (Centre ACCO). In the junior category, Imbrana Moussa (FAP Velo Club) finished the race in 1h45’02”. Toko Edi Luc was second in 1h45’05” (SNH Velo Club) and Bitjocka Nicolas third in 1h51’59” (Littoral).
