South West : Voting Ends In Serenity

All six administrative Divisional headquarters of the Region conducted the voting without any noticeable incident.

By midday yesterday March 12, 2023, over 90 per cent of the 959 South West Regional electors had cast their votes for the Senatorial election.  South West Regional Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai made an appraisal of the conduct of the voting. The Governor inspected all four polling stations located at the Government High School Limbe with two polling boxes each, totalling eight. He visibly left Limbe satisfied that the ground work for security coverage under his command, amid threats from armed groups, was effective.
At press time, no major incident had been reported as voting was going on in the various Divisional headquarters of Menji (Lebialem), Kumba (Meme), Mundemba (Ndian), Bangem (Kupe Muanenguba) Mamfe (Manyu), and Limbe (Fako).
Supervisors of the elections managing body, Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) were present and ensured that the various voting stations were open at 8am to close at 6pm. The polling stations remained calm and peaceful with voters filing past to perform their civic duties quietly and stepping out to wait for the counting at 6pm.
