U-23 AFCON Qualifiers : Cameroon Stumbles In Gabon

The Lions were beaten 1-0 by the Panthers of Gabon in the first leg qualifier for the final round of the U-23 AFCON on Saturday March 25, 2023 in Franceville.

The U23 Lions of Cameroon have complicated their chances of qualifying for the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations billed for Morocco in June this year. The Lions were beaten 1-0 by the Panthers of Gabon in the first leg qualifier for the final round of the U23 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday March 25, 2023 at the Franceville Stadium in Gabon.  Jeremie Moussango scored the lone goal on the match at the 13th minute to give Gabon the lead. It was a though encounter as the Cameroonians struggled to catch up with their Gabonese counterpart to no avail.
The Lions put up a strong fight but failed to materialise their scoring chances. Gabon on their part struggled to increase score but faced strong resistance in the Lions defence. It should be recalled that the U-23 Lions team was reduced to 10 men after the expulsion of the team captain Blondon Meyapya at the 78th minute for foul play against a Gabonese player. The second leg will take place on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 in Yaounde....
