MTN Elite One : UMS Resurfaces, Bamboutos Untouchable

Both clubs continue to better their chances for the playoffs as they occupy the top positions in Group A and B after Day 19. Meanwhile, Dragon is mathematically relegated.

After day 19 matches played over the weekend, UMS of Loum has resurfaced as group leaders of Pool A with 33 points, in replacement of Canon, that topped the charts after the 18th playing day. It should be said that these two clubs have been battling and interchanging the top seat for the past few playing days. UMS took advantage of Canon’s exemption to increase their point tally as they beat Avion 1-0. Canon that are second on the standings with 31 points hope to bounce back to the top when they are programmed in the next playing day. Stade Renard of Melong made remarkable progress moving from the fifth position after match day 18 to replace Coton Sport in the third position after match day 19 with 24 points. Stade Renard beat Colombe 1-0 to climb to 24 points. Coton Sport; now fourth, will hope to spring up when they catch up their Day 19 game against Aigle Royal of Menoua on April 8, 2023. Below the table, PWD of Bamenda have moved out of the relegation zone after the 1-1 draw with Eding Sport (18 points). Nonetheless, the Bamenda-based club share equal number of points like Avion and Renaissance that are in the relegation zone. This means that it is still very much open under the table.
