Ivane Steve Tchinda : Champion In 1500m, 5000m

The 24-year-old athlete from the University of Douala has already bagged gold medals in the above athletics disciplines.


Ivane Steve Tchinda is a perfect blend of resistance and speed. This was seen in his performance in the men’s 1500m and 5000m races in the ongoing University Games in Ngaoundere. He won gold in all two races. The 24-year-old Level 1 student in the University of Douala thus goes into the 10000m race today morning with all confidence. 
He won the first gold on April 30, 2023 in the men’s 1500m in 4 minutes 10 seconds. Tchinda was tactful from the beginning taking out time out time to analyse his opponents before implementing his winning strategy. “At the beginning, it was not easy but moments into the race, I put in more efforts to overtake and finish first,” the tall athlete with long legs revealed. 
This victory served as a source of motivation and with his performance in the 1500m, he was highly awaited in the 5000m on May 1, 2023. When he took off, it was evident that he was going to win. From a spectator’s eye, he had finished the race to grab a gold when some of his opponents were still one round behind. He won the race in 15 minutes 52 seconds.
