Sambo Cup of Cameroon : Mboa Sport Are Winners

Over 100 athletes from clubs across the country took part in the competition that took place in Yaounde last weekend.

The Yamthe Multisports Complex in Ngousso Yaounde, was the venue of the 2023 edition of the Sambo Cup of Cameroon that took place on Saturday August 20, 2023. The Cup of Cameroon competition was the first under the banner of the new Cameroon Sambo Federation created on March 2023. Over 100 athletes from clubs across the country took part in the competition which also served as a selection test for the best athletes in the run-up to the World Championships in Armenia in November. The athletes competed in 50 fights in both the sambo sportif and sambo combat. 
At the end of the competition, Mboa Sambo Club of Yaounde emerged winners wining a total of 11 medals; eight gold, two silver and one bronze. FAP Sambo Club of Yaounde was second with 20 medals; six gold, seven silver and seven bronze. The Académie des Arts de Yaounde was third with six medals; one gold, three silver and two bronze. The competition, coupled with the Grand Prix Jean Paul Mbouelle, one of the forerunners of the discipline in Cameroon, was marked by the massive participation of the cream of the martial art of Russian origin and a fine cultural and artistic sequence. Experts say the 2023 Sambo Cup of Cameroon was rich in emotion thanks to bouts of a very high technical level.
