Festi Foot Y’Ongola : Yaounde II Crowned Winners

It was an exceptional day at the Stade Malien, Anguissa in the Yaounde V Subdivision on Saturday August 26, 2023. The event was the final of the third edition of the holiday football championship called ‘Festi-Foot Y’Ongola’. Organised by the Yaounde City Council the competition brought together teams from the seven subdivisions of the Mfoundi Division. It was the first time the Yaounde V Municipality was hosting the opening and ceremonies of the Festi Y’Ongola Holiday Championship. 
The closing match pitted the Yaounde III Council team against the Yaounde II Council team. Supporters of both teams were seen in special corners of the stadium cheering their players. Dance groups from the Mfoundi Division animated the occasion. Despite the poor weather, spectators glued to their seats to watch every minute of the game. Kick off was given by the third Deputy Mayor of the Yaounde City Council, Midjinyaoua Palalou.  It was a though encounter as both sides were determined to grab the trophy at least for the first time. At the end of the encounter Yaounde II emerged winners beating Yaounde III 3-1 through penalty kicks after regular time ended on a 2-2 draw. 
Speaking at the occasion Midjinyaoua Palalou on behalf of the Mayor of the City of Yaounde congratulated the winners and also encouraged the runners up who were equally a good team.  The Mayor of Yaounde II Council, Yannick Martial Ayissi Eloundou, expressed satisfaction with his team.
