Readapting and Reinserting PWD : Regional Delegates Schooled

This was during a two day workshop that took place in Douala from the 6-7 of September 2023.

Operationalizing the national committee for the re-adaptation and the socio-economic reinsertion of persons with disabilities at the regional level was the focus of a two day workshop that took place in Douala from the 6-7 September 2023. Following the reorganisation of the National Committee for the Rehabilitation and Socio-Economic Reintegration of People with Disabilities (CONRHA), a consultative body which has to facilitate the coordination of efforts made by public authorities, civil society and private individuals for the benefit of people with disabilities, with the participation of the latter.
It was important for stakeholders to get abreast with the new strategies. The workshop was aimed at building the capacity of CONRHA members to use an efficient monitoring and evaluation system in order to improve data collection on actions in favor of people with disabilities PWD, equip CONRHA members in disability monitoring and evaluation techniques, strengthen the capacities of these stakeholders in relation to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities CRPD… It is on record that Cameroon ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) on 28 December 2021, after the promulgation of law n°2010/002 of 13 april 2010 on the protection and promotion of persons with disabilities, which is an invitation to administrations to integrate the disability approach into the implementation of their policies.
Against this backdrop the Technical Adviser II in the Ministry of Social Affairs, Rodolphe Soh explained that, the government of Cameroon is a pioneer in Africa because it has moved from the charity approach to the legal aspect of protecting the PWD. ...
