Ngannou vs Fury : Enthusiasm At Its Peak

As the day of the huge crossover between Ngannou and Furry drew closer, fans could not help but hype for the fight. The enthusiasm multiplied on the D-day, October 28, 2023. No one was left out of the trend. In Cameroon’s political capital Yaounde, almost all debates on the streets, markets, drinking spots, other public places as well as homes were centered on the Ngannou-Fury bout. Even those who mastered little or nothing about a boxing fight, spoke on it with much confidence and showed a lot of excitement to watch their compatriot fight in that level of competition and fame.
Social media was flooded and you will not scroll for more than two seconds without seeing a post on Ngannou. WhatsApp status’ rang the bells, wishing the Cameroonian star good luck. But this enthusiasm was enveloped in a dilemma of where to watch the fight. Some had gone for some online offers, while others gnashed their teeth in the fear of being told the story.
Fortunately, the State broadcaster, through its CRTV Sports and Entertainment channel, showed the whole show. Given that there were other high profile events scheduled for same evening, a few resorted to swapping from one channel to the other while a majority were glued to their TV sets watching the build-up to the main card of the evening (Ngannou-Fury).
