Douala International Marathon : Franck Tchoupteng Emerges Winner

He covered the distance in 2 hours 33 minutes 28 seconds this Sunday – October 29, 2023.


The 6th edition of the Douala International Marathon that took place on October 29, 2023 has seen Franck Tchoupteng emerging as winner in the major category. The marathon that saw over 5,000 athletes taking part in four categories witnessed huge success. The take off point was at Bonassama-Bonaberi, with each category having its own itinerary.
At the end of the race, the winners were awarded prizes that ranged from FCFA 125,000 to FCFA 2.5 million for the winners of the major category. According to Eliane Nana, the Chief Executive Officer of Tara Sports and Entertainment, the main organizer of the Douala International Marathon, all was put in place for a successful event. She said this year's event witnessed some challenges but hope to do better next year.
The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, congratulated the athletes and all those who made the event successful. He added that such marathon promotes living together and harmony amongst people. He reiterated that his ministry is out to promote sports and physical education initiatives that promote the image of Cameroon. The Minister called on more athletes to prepare and take part in next year's edition, as it will prepare them for bigger competitions. The winner of the marathon covered the distance in 2h 33’, while Justin Foimi came second in 2h34’, and Jude Lenka came third in 2h 38 minutes. In the semi-marathon female category, Liliane Nouesta emerged first with Adanu Irine at the second position and Ngong Sylvera occupied the third.
